Pine Valley Community Village offers care to residents with complicated wound care needs. Pine Valley has staff that is Wound Care Certified. They oversee the wound care program along with Dr. Robert Smith, our Medical Director. Pine Valley’s well-trained nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy and dietary staff work as a team to plan and implement a comprehensive and individualized wound care program for each resident that require these services, to heal and treat the wound as safely and quickly as possible. Therapy has specialized equipment that also improves healing.
Examples of wounds that may need treatment are: diabetic wounds, vascular wounds, non-healing surgical sites, etc. The wound care certified nurse monitors the progress of wounds recommending individualized treatments for each different stage of wound healing to shorten healing time and improve outcomes. The care plan is developed with the input of the resident and focuses on achieving the goals they have for their wound.
